PROPOSED SLATE OF OFFICERS FOR THE 2025-2026 FISCAL YEAR AND PROPOSED REVISION TO THE BYLAWS

Pursuant to the LAW Bylaws, notice is hereby given that the annual meeting of the membership for the election of the board of directors and officers for the 2025-2026 fiscal year will be held on April 24, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Music City Center, 201 Rep. John Lewis Way S., Nashville, Tennessee. Nominees for the officers and directors are introduced below. Other nominations may be made from the floor at the annual meeting.

Proposed slate of officers:

President Elect: Shundra Manning

Secretary: Jessica Lim

Archivist: Tony Orlandi

Leighann Ness will move from President-Elect to President. Courtney Orr will move from President to Immediate Past President. Ellen McIntyre and Princess Rogers will move from First Year Directors to Second Year Directors.

PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE VII, SECTION 1.b. OF THE BYLAWS

ARTICLE VII

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Section 1.  Membership.  The Board of Directors will consist of:

a.         the officers of the Association;

b.         four additional members elected as directors for staggered terms of two years, two of whom will be elected one year and two of whom will be elected the next year.   Utilizing reasonable efforts, at any given time, at least one of the four directors shall should have been in practice three five years or less at the time of election and at least one of the four directors should have been in practice fifteen years or longer at the time of election.  So long as reasonable efforts have been utilized, directors not meeting these guidelines will not impact the board’s ability to act;

c.         the immediate past president, who will serve on the Board as an ex officio voting member for one year.

THE LAW FOUNDATION IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR GRANTS

The Lawyers' Association for Women Marion Griffin Chapter Foundation is now accepting applications for grants for 2025. Grants may be awarded in amounts up to $3500.00 annually per applicant. All 2025 applications are due on or before close of business on May 16, 2025, and may be submitted via email to lawmgcfoundation@gmail.com. The Foundation's Board of Directors will review all applications received and grant recipients will be informed of the results following the Board's decision. Recipients also will be acknowledged at the 2025 Annual New Admittees' Breakfast. 

All grants awarded by the foundation will be exclusively to individuals, purposes and causes in furtherance of the Foundation's Mission. Therefore, please carefully review the Foundation Grant Guidelines and the Foundation's Mission prior to submitting an application. Please note that there are separate application forms for individual and organizational applicants. Links to each of these applications can be found here: Foundation Grant Applications
