A panel of experts in domestic violence and child abuse will examine the statistics of abuse before and since the pandemic. They will discuss the increase in domestic violence and child abuse cases, and trends regarding the increased difficulty in victim/witness participation at trial. They will share the inventive changes to business and professional models on how services are being provided to clients remotely and the impact of the pandemic on their respective offices. There will be a review of successful legislative initiatives before the pandemic, and legislative changes needed due to, or post-pandemic.
Panelists: Diane Lance, Department Head of the Mayor's Office of Family Safety; Sara Beth Myers, founder and board chair of Advocates for Women's And Kids' Equality (AWAKE), an issues-based organization that advocates for the advancement of women and kids through education and policy change; and Metropolitan Nashville Assistant District Attorney Christina Johnson.
