WOMEN IN POLITICS, VOTING RIGHTS, AND GETTING INVOLVED

SPONSORED BY POLSINELLI

LAW presents a free lunch and CLE (for the first 40 people) on Women in Politics which will provide a broad look at women's involvement in politics, both as voters and as candidates. We will also look at voter turnout and its impact on women. The speakers will provide anecdotal experiences of the successes and obstacles women in politics face. Armed with this knowledge, how do we get involved? We will provide easy steps that busy professionals like lawyers can take to help support the election effort (e.g., voter registration, voting plans, encouraging/normalizing conversations about these topics). We will provide an opportunity for registrants to register to vote and/or verify their voter registration.

We will hear from Megan Barry, former Nashville mayor and candidate for Congress, Courtney Johnston, Metro Councilwoman and former candidate for Congress, Megan Lange, the Tennessee Democratic Party Executive Committeewoman for Senate District 18 and the campaign manager for Alison Beale, and Lexi Woods, who serves as the Vice President of Women in Numbers, which is a non-partisan organization established to engage, encourage, and endorse qualified women to be elected to public office.

PLEASE LET LAW KNOW IF YOU WILL JUST BE EATING LUNCH OR WILL ALSO SIGN UP FOR CLE CREDIT AT JANNAEATONSMITH@LAW-NASHVILLE.ORG OR 615-428-6657.
